Christmas in the Village 2009

Join us for the 22nd annual “Christmas in the Village Craft Festival” in Eldersville, PA on November 6 - 8, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Stroll through our quaint town as you visit more than 75 crafters in various locations, and delight in the unique style of each artisan. The theme for the Festival this year is “Ringing Bells in the Village.” If you need assistance, look for people wearing bright red crochet scarves and “Village Helpers” buttons.

You will enjoy the Christmas celebration atmosphere of this free holiday event. Delicious food will be served at the Jefferson Township Fire Hall, Eldersville Methodist Church, Heritage Hall and the Cornerstone Mennonite Church. These locations, as well as others, will also host many crafters.

Directories will be available throughout the Village and will detail crafters and food vendors with their specific locations. Every location will be marked with a number in front of it. Pick up a Directory as soon as you arrive. Directories will be available at the Jefferson Township Fire Hall, Christmas in the Village Pavilion (behind the Fire Hall), the Eldersville Methodist Church, the Cornerstone Mennonite Church, Heritage Hall, and the historic White Church.

The festivities begin on Thursday, November 5 with an Opening Light-Up Night and Community Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eldersville Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. Following the Service, lighting of the Village snowflake lights will take place.

A Festival highlight is Breakfast with Santa held at the Jefferson Township Fire Hall at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7. For tickets, call Paulette Mermon at 724 587-3832.

Christmas in the Village Parade begins at noon on Saturday, November 7. Marching bands, scouts, fire trucks, dancers, antique and classic vehicles, floats, and, of course, Santa will be in the Parade. A new attraction this year is a brightly colored wood train built by Dave Choman. It has an engine and five train box cars, each car large enough to hold four children.

The 6th Annual Chili Cook-off will be held at the Eldersville Methodist Church following the Parade where you will have the opportunity to vote on your favorite chili.

A tradition for many years is to have a replica of an early Village building painted on a wood block. This year the Early Eldersville Collectible will be Kidd’s Mill and can be purchased at the Christmas in the Village Pavilion.

A Veterans Memorial Ceremony will be held during Christmas in the Village at the Veterans Memorial Site on Cedar Grove Road on Sunday, November 8. Time is to be announced.
